Gun Scare At Sonoma Co. School Probed
Reports of a gunman at a Sonoma County elementary school on Wednesday turned out to be a hoax, police said.
SONOMA COUNTY, CA β Lockdown orders were issued at a Sonoma County elementary school Wednesday after authorities received multiple reports of a gunman on campus that turned out to be a hoax, the Santa Rosa Police Department said.
Officers responded to Hidden Valley Elementary on two occasions on separate reports of a person armed with a gun at the school, police said in a news release.
βOn both occasions numerous officers quickly responded to the school and searched for possible suspects,β police said.

βNo suspects were located on either occasion and the lockdowns were quickly lifted.
βAfter a subsequent investigation the reports of a subject with a gun were determined to be a hoax.β

A call that came in at around 11 a.m. triggered a lockdown of around 30 minutes and a second lockdown was ordered shortly afterward, The Press Democrat reports.
Parents were allowed to return to campus to pick up their children after the second lockdown was lifted by 1 p.m., the report said.
