Survey: Californians Support Brown Budget, Same Sex Marriage & Gun Laws. Do You Agree?

Most Californians say illegal immigrants should be able to stay.
They alsoΒ approve of Gov. Jerry Brownβs job performanceΒ and support same sexΒ marriage as well asΒ stricter gun laws.
That'sΒ according to a survey releasedΒ WednesdayΒ byΒ theΒ Public Policy Institute of California.

The annual survey takes a reading of Californiansβ opinions on hot-button issues. This yearβs findings included:
*78 percent of those surveyed said immigrants in the U.S. illegallyΒ should be able to stay here.
*61 percent of Californians and 60 percent of voters support BrownβsΒ school funding plan, which includes more money for K-12 education andΒ higher education.
*55 percent of residents would rather use this yearβs budget surplusΒ to pay down debt and build a reserve than restore funding for someΒ social service programs.
*57 percent of Californians say global warming will threaten their way of life.
*56 percent of Californians support gay marriage.
*57 percent of Californians say the government does not do enough toΒ control access to guns. Nearly 90 percent said they supportedΒ background checks for all gun buyers.
Surveyers interviewed 1,704 California adult residents for the study.Β Interviews were done in English and Spanish. They wereΒ conducted on landlinesΒ and cell phones from May 14-20.
