Fatal Crash On SR-78 Prompts SigAlert In North County
All westbound SR-78 lanes were closed at Rancho Santa Fe Road, according to the city of San Marcos.

SAN MARCOS, CA — A fatal collision involving a motorcycle prompted a SigAlert Monday morning on state Route 78 in San Diego's North County.
The collision was reported shortly after 4:30 a.m. on westbound SR-78 at Rancho Santa Fe Road in San Marcos, according to the California Highway Patrol's incident log.
All westbound SR-78 lanes were closed at Rancho Santa Fe Road, according to the city of San Marcos. Traffic was being rerouted to South Santa Fe Road to Smilax.

The CHP issued a SigAlert for the area. Authorities said motorists should expect delays. Motorists were asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes if possible.
