San Diego Zoo To Host Free Tree Conservation Workshop

Learn how to help assess the health of trees in San Diego using only smartphones.

SAN DIEGO, CA — The horticulture and plant team at the San Diego Zoo is inviting all plant lovers to a free training workshop to help assess the health of trees in San Diego using only smartphones.

The Healthy Trees, Healthy Cities Workshop will give attendees first-hand training and in-field experience guided by the zoo's plant experts. Participants will need to bring their own smart mobile device.

Healthy Trees, Healthy Cities is a tree health monitoring initiative coordinated by The Nature Conservancy and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service, which supports researchers, managers, and civic ecologists in the protection of trees and forests in communities nationwide.

The workshop will take place from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Jan. 21 at the War Memorial Building at 3325 Zoo Drive in San Diego. Register here.
