5 Injured In Chairlift 'Incident' At Heavenly Mountain
Several passengers were taken to a hospital after the incident, which was reported just after 10 a.m. on Monday.
LAKE TAHOE, CA — Heavenly Mountain Resort is investigating a chairlift incident that injured five people and placed its popular Comet Express lift on hold on Monday morning, officials told Patch.
The five patients were taken to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, Michelle Turner, a public information officer for the agency, told Patch. Their condition was not disclosed.
The agency arrived on the scene at 10:10 a.m. with two engines and three rescue ambulances, Turner said.

The resort has not confirmed these details but said that it was looking into the incident.
“Heavenly Mountain Resort can confirm an incident occurred on its Comet Express chairlift today, Monday, December 23, 2024," Resort Spokesperson Cole Zimmerman said. "The safety of our guests is our top priority and the resort is investigating the incident."

Several people on Reddit said that they witnessed a collision on the chairlift.
"Chair slid backwards with people on it into the chair behind it. The people in front chair fell off. They Luckily it’s at the very beginning of the lift," one user wrote.
