SAN FRANCISCO -- With the Safeway on the border of North Beach and Fisherman's Wharf closing its doors, local residents' trips to the grocery store will soon look a lot different.

"Now, I've got to spend money to go elsewhere to shop," Shepard Sanders said. He's used to being able to walk to the grocery store.
