Apply By Friday For San Leandro School Board Opening

SAN LEANDRO, CA — San Leandro Unified School District is encouraging its residents to apply for an opening on the district's Board of Trustees after a board member moved out of the area.

SLUSD has a vacancy to represent Area 1 on the northern end of the city after trustee Monique Tate moved to Texas and is accepting applications until 5 p.m. Aug. 11.

To be eligible, applicants must be registered voters who are not current SLUSD employees and must reside in the Trustee Area 1 boundary. A map of the Area 1 boundary may be found online.

People can find the application packet online or get physical copies by emailing SLUSD executive assistant Michelle Mayfield at mmayfield@slusd.us, and can mail or hand-deliver the application by the deadline to the district's office at 835 E. 14th Street, Suite 200, San Leandro, CA 94577.

Interviews will occur before Aug. 29, when the district plans to announce the appointee, who will hold office until the next board elections in November 2024.
