SAN LEANDRO, CA — The Bay Fair BART Station in San Leandro has reopened Wednesday afternoon after a train apparently struck and killed a person on the tracks, a BART spokesperson said.

A report initially came in at 12:47 p.m. about a person who may have come into contact with a train at the Bay Fair station, according to BART spokesperson Chris Filippi, who said the Alameda County coroner responded to the scene.

The station was closed so emergency responders could investigate the death. Normal service resumed around 3:15 p.m. with residual delays impacting the system, Filippi said.
