SAN LEANDRO, CA — Trustees of the San Leandro Unified School District have unanimously selected James Aguilar as the board's president.
Aguilar had been serving as the board's vice president. He replaces Christian Rodriguez, who died in December.
"I am emotional and very honored to continue to serve the San Leandro Unified community in this new capacity," said Aguilar, a senior at San Francisco State University. "Alongside this leadership team, I am deeply inspired by the strength and resolve shown in this district to provide joyful, meaningful learning opportunities to every child in our schools. I am overjoyed to have been given this opportunity to expand my leadership experience, especially as I look towards a career in public service."
