Community Picnic and Crop Share This Sunday

Trade extra harvest from your garden and enjoy free home-grown snacks

The San Leandro Food Sovereignty Project is inviting San Leandro residents to its second annual Community Picnic at Thrasher Park, 1300 Davis Street, this Sunday, October 1, 11am-2pm. Drop by anytime during the event to trade excess fruit and vegetable harvest from your garden, enjoy goodies made from home-grown produce and fresh lemonade and connect with neighbors.

At this event, residents are also invited to share their knowledge or skills with each other. “Whether you have a special recipe or cooking technique, expertise in identifying garden pests or diseases, knowledge about different types of produce or garden tips, we have a space for you to share and showcase your skills,” says organizer Cortney Daniels. Interested residents can contact her through the website www.slfsp.org or just show up.

The event is supported by the San Leandro Office of Sustainability Resilience Hubs Initiative. It is free, and no RSVP is needed. Learn more at www.slfsp.org.
