Elderly Pedestrian Hit By Bicyclist Dies: Report

The bicyclist, just 12-years-old, stopped with his friends and cooperated with police.

SAN LEANDRO, CA — 77-year-old Judy Eisenberg died Monday, nearly three weeks after suffering a head injury when she was hit by a 12-year-old bicyclist in San Leandro, according to KRON-4 News.

Eisenberg had just left Kohl's at the Bayfair Center mall when the accident happened.

Police Lt. Teng told KRON that Eisenberg stepped off the sidewalk, then stopped to let a boy popping a wheelie on his bike pass by. Two other boys were following behind on their bikes.

Surveillance video showed that after the first boy passed, the woman continued forward. One boy went left to avoid Eisenberg while the other went right. At the same time, the woman stepped backwards to avoid the bicyclists and was hit.

The boy who crashed into her used his feet to try to stop the bike before colliding with Eisenberg.

No charges are expected to be filed.
