"In the interest of public safety, the deputy did not pursue the vehicle but notified our air unit, which monitored the vehicle from the sky," the sheriff's office reported.

The air unit tracked the vehicle to a dead-end street at 41st Avenue near E. 16th Street in Oakland.

"When deputies arrived in the area, the suspect initially refused to comply with orders to exit the vehicle. Deputies effectively de-escalated the situation, leading to the suspect's surrender and arrest."

Inside the vehicle, deputies found thousands of dollars stolen cell phone accessories, sunglasses, and perfume, which were all inventoried for evidence. "Due to the suspect's extensive criminal history of theft," the sheriff's office reports, "we believe the merchandise is associated with organized retail crime."
