Good Samaritan Hit On Hwy 101 In San Mateo, Driver Flees: CHP

The CHP is looking for a hit-and-run driver who hit man who had pulled over on the roadway to help another motorist, police say.

SAN MATEO, CA — A good Samaritan suffered minor injuries when he was struck by a vehicle on northbound U.S. Highway 101 in San Mateo while assisting another motorist involved in a solo-vehicle crash early Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP said the first crash was reported at 2:16 a.m. as a solo-vehicle, non-injury crash, according to CHP Officer Art Montiel.

The good Samaritan, only described as a man, was clipped while helping the motorist in the crash a few minutes later. The vehicle that hit the man did not remain at the scene, according to the CHP.

The victim was transported to a hospital with minor injuries. Neither the victim nor the motorist were able to provide a description of the hit-and-run driver's vehicle.
