1 Arrested During Sex Offender Sweep In North Bay: County Officials

Police said they conducted seven probation searches of active sex offenders and seized electronic devises to further investigate.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — Probation officers did a compliance sweep for sex offenders Thursday in Marin County, resulting in one arrest and several property seizures.

On Thursday, the Marin County Probation Department and the Marin County Sheriff's Office collaborated on a compliance sweep to ensure accountability among sex offenders in Marin.

"These operations are about more than enforcement; they’re about protecting our community and reinforcing the importance of accountability," said Chief Probation Officer Marlon Washington. "Public safety begins with consistent oversight and collaboration. Our team remains committed to ensuring that individuals under supervision are supported in their rehabilitation while maintaining the highest standards of responsibility."

An operation targeting 12 individuals, primarily registered sex offenders, involved Probation officers and deputies searching homes, vehicles, and electronic devices — such as phones, tablets, computers, gaming consoles, smart TVs and external storage — to ensure probation compliance and identify violations.

  • Six successful contacts
  • Three attempted contacts
  • Seven probation searches conducted
  • 10 electronic devices searched including six cell phones, two tablets and two gaming consoles
  • Property seized for investigation: one safe, one SD card, two laptop computers, two iPads and three cell phones
  • One vehicle searched
  • One arrest made for noncompliance
