SAN RAMON, CA — The San Ramon Art & Wind Festival has chosen its logo for the year, and it’s a psychedelic swirl of butterfly kites.

The logo, called “On the Wings of Butterflies,” was selected from a contest open to the public that was won by Pleasanton artist Rhonda Chase. In addition to serving as the official artwork of the festival, it will display at the Lindsay Dirkx Brown Art Gallery during May, and then will be added to San Ramon’s permanent art collection.

Chase will also exhibit her winning design alongside 49 other pieces of original art at the Lindsay Dirkx Brown Art Gallery from May 2-30. She is hosting a reception on Sunday, May 19 from 1-3, and a posting signing May 27 from 1-3, during the Art & Wind Festival.

“What excites me now as an artist is sharing beauty, and being a gentle, uplifting advocate for the environment,” Chase said. “My subject matter often comes from nature: lemon trees and sunflowers, hummingbirds and dragonflies. I also like to portray other snippets of life that bring us joy like music and dance, or for the Art & Wind Festival, flying a kite.”

The kite-themed festival will take place Sunday, May 26 through Monday, May 27 at Central Park. Guests will enjoy arts, crafts, food, three entertainment stages, gourmet food courts, family amusement zones, professionally-choreographed kite flying demonstrations, and a free kite making workshop. Last year, over 40,000 people attended.
