As a Child Fights Cancer, a Community Shows Support With Soccer
About 50 teams will compete today at Dougherty Valley High School to raise money for 10-year-old Brianne Bochenek, who has recently been diagnosed with Osteosarcoma.
There is a soccer tournament at today and like any competitive competition teams will be playing to win. But, in the big picture, scoring more goals than your opponet isn't terriblly important today. It's about helping a girl that is up against a serious foe — cancer.
Brianne "Breezy" Bochene was recently diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer. The 10-year-old is the sister of a Dougherty Valley alum and Wednesday's soccer tournament was organized to help raise money for Bochene's medical costs and other Osteocarmona patients.
Doughtery Valley head soccer coach Omar Cervantes and alumni soccer players helped put together this inaugural Cancer Awareness Tournament.

Fifty teams, that paid a $100 entry fee, ranging from under-9 to under-18 will play four against four. The day will be capped with Dougherty Valley playing its annual alumni game.
