LLNL Opens Registration For 39th Annual Tri-Valley Expanding Your Horizons Conference

The conference event will introduce young girls in grades 6-9 to careers surrounded by STEM on Feb 25.

From Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory: Register now for the 39th annual Tri-Valley Expanding Your Horizons Conference scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 25, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Diablo Valley College San Ramon Campus, 1690 Watermill Road, San Ramon.

This popular daylong event introduces young women in grades 6-9 to a variety of challenging careers through hands-on workshops, designed to increase interest in and foster awareness of careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). This year’s theme is “Trailblazing Your Future.”

At the conference, girls will participate in two 90-minute hands-on workshops, a special group activity, eat lunch with the presenters (provided) and attend a career fair/science expo. The cost to attend is $20. Registration is limited to the first 300 students.

For parents, a workshop is available from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on college planning, UC and CSU academic requirements, transferring from a community college to a four-year university and financial aid. Registration is required along with a $20 non-refundable registration fee. Lunch will be provided. Parents may register online at http://tveyh.org or by mailing the registration form.

The conference is organized by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratories/California, Diablo Valley College San Ramon Campus and the American Association of University Women.
