Local Hindu Community Honors SRVUSD Teachers
The local chapter of Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh recognized 15 exceptional SRVUSD teachers.
SAN RAMON, CA — The Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh, San Ramon chapter, and their youth wing organized a teacher appreciation function called Guruvandana on May 6. Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (also known as HSS) is a nonprofit socio-cultural Hindu organization with over 235 branches in 164 cities and 34 states. HSS San Ramon fosters a sense of civic duty, care for the community, responsibility, volunteerism, and an understanding of selfless service through service activities and outreach projects such as a Food donation drive during the festival of Diwali, a "Health for Humanity" yogathon, and a backpack drive for local students.
Devotional worship of the guru - the teacher - is one of the most touching and elevating traditions of Hinduism, which has been continued for generations. Teachers inspire us to become better individuals and contribute positively to society. HSS San Ramon chapter kids took this opportunity to express gratitude and reverence towards their teachers.
The event was held at the Community Center in Central Park, San Ramon, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. A total of 15 teachers from various schools of SRVUSD, including Quail Run Elementary, Bella Vista Elementary, Coyote Creek Elementary, Montevideo Elementary, Country Club Elementary, Twin Creeks Elementary, Iron Horse Middle, Gale Ranch Middle School, and the principal of DVHS attended the function. The event was filled with cultural activities and speeches highlighting teachers' importance in our lives.
