Local Hindu Community honors SRVUSD Teachers
The local chapter of Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh recognized 14 teachers on the occasion of "Guru Vandana"
The Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh San Ramon chapter and their youth wing organized a teacher appreciation function called “Guru Vandana” on May 11. Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (also known as HSS) is a nonprofit socio-cultural Hindu organization with over 235 branches in 164 cities and 34 states. HSS San Ramon fosters a sense of civic duty, care for the community, responsibility, volunteerism, and an understanding of selfless service through service activities and outreach projects such as a Food donation drive during the festival of Diwali, a "Health for Humanity" yogathon, and a backpack drive for local students in need.
Devotional worship of the guru - the teacher - is one of the most touching and elevating traditions of Hinduism, which has been preserved and continued for generations. Teachers inspire us to become better individuals and contribute positively to society. HSS San Ramon chapter kids took this opportunity to express gratitude and reverence towards their teachers.
The event was held at the Community Center in Central Park, San Ramon, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. A total of 14 teachers from various schools, including Gale Ranch Middle, Iron Horse Middle, Coyote Creek Elementary, Montevideo Elementary, Quail Run Elementary, Frederiksen Elementary, Blue J Labs and the principal of Live Oak Elementary attended the function. The event was filled with cultural activities and speeches highlighting teachers' importance in our lives.
