Nature’s Rhythm” Solo Exhibit by Multidisciplinary Artist Rashmi Rao Opens in San Ramon

Experience Nature's Rhythm, Rashmi Rao's solo alcohol ink exhibit inspired by nature, open at Dougherty Station Arts Center through Dec. 18.

“Nature’s Rhythm,” a new solo exhibition by multidisciplinary artist Rashmi Rao, is now on view at the Dougherty Station Community Arts Center through December 18, 2025.

The exhibition features vibrant alcohol ink paintings that explore the interplay of surrender and control—a dance between the artist’s visual intuition and the natural movement of the inks themselves. Rashmi describes her process as “letting the ink flow freely and then gently guiding it toward the world I envision.”

  • A solo display case exhibition in 2024 in the City of Lafayette, where she explored folk and tribal art narratives using Pantone color cards as illustration surfaces.
  • A transformative Inktober exploration in 2023, which became the spark that led her to alcohol inks — now the foundation of her signature style.
  • Award recognition in 2025, when her alcohol ink painting “Echoes of Earth” won First Place in the Watercolors category at the Spring Art Show in Livermore.
  • Her piece “Cosmic Blossom,” also created in alcohol inks, received an Honorable Mention earlier this year at the prestigious Fresh Works XIII exhibition at the Harrington Gallery inside the Firehouse Arts Center in Pleasanton.
  • Artworks featured in Pleasanton Weekly (April 27, 2025) during coverage of the Tri-Valley Studio Tour
  • Participation in ArtWalk Livermore 2023, where her work was featured in The Independent newspaper

“Her work has appeared in galleries throughout the Bay Area — from Sonoma and Marin to Alameda and Contra Costa — and is celebrated for its emotional resonance, movement, and luminous color palettes.”

Rashmi also teaches adult and family art workshops at the Dublin Library, encouraging creativity as a mindful practice for all ages.

About the Exhibition

Nature’s Rhythm brings together paintings that reflect Rashmi’s relationship with Mother Earth — not as a literal landscape, but as a felt experience of color, texture, pattern, and flow. Each piece is a moment suspended between spontaneous movement and intentional guidance.

The exhibition also recently included a community collaborative art activity and raffle, held during the opening reception, which saw tremendous participation and enthusiasm.
