San Ramon HS 19th Best In CA, 155th Best In Nation: US News

SAN RAMON, CA — US News again ranked Dougherty Valley High School as the 19th best high school in California and third best in the Bay Area, based on college readiness, college curriculum, state assessments, graduation rates, and more.
Dougherty Valley received an overall score of 99.12 out of 100, slightly down from its score of 99.14 in September 2023. The school is ranked 155th nationally, also slightly down from its ranking of 153 in September.

- How many students have taken at least one AP Exam (84%)
- How many have passed at least one AP Exam (77%)
- How many students are proficient in mathematics according to state assessments (83%)
- How many students are deemed proficient in reading according to state assessments (92%)
- How many students are deemed proficient in science according to state assessments (67%)
- Graduation rate (98%)

Still, the school remains one of the best in the state and country. It ranked the highest out of any of SRVUSD’s four high schools, and the highest in the Tri-Valley. The next highest in the Tri-Valley is Amador Valley High School in Pleasanton (score of 97.49, 443rd in the country, 60th in California, 12th in Bay Area), followed by Foothill High School in Pleasanton (score of 97.19, 496th in the country, 67th in California.)

California High School trailed far behind with a score of 91.19, placing it last among SRVUSD high schools, 38th in the Bay Area, 218th in California, and 1,555th nationally.
The next highest ranked in SRVUSD was Monte Vista High School, which has a score of 96.81 and is ranked 17th in the Bay Area, 76th in California, and 563rd nationally.
The top schools in California are Riverside Stem Academy in Riverside, Whitney High School in Cerritos, and Science Academy Stem Magnet in North Hollywood. The best high school in the country is BASIS Peoria in Peoria, Arizona, according to rankings.
