San Ramon "Joule Junction" Nonprofit gives to Hayward Elem. School
"Joule Junction's" Pranav Nimmagadda donates 30+ STEM Kits to Longwood Elementary School in Hayward USD, CA
HAYWARD, CA — On December 14, 2024, Joule Junction, a San Ramon-based nonprofit, donated over 20 pre-prepared STEM kits to eager 4th, 5th, and 6th graders at Longwood Elementary School in Hayward, CA. High schoolers Pranav Nimmagadda, Nikhil Shenoy, and others, from Dougherty Valley High School in San Ramon, CA, led this event. They aim to inspire an interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) in young students, especially in underserved communities.
The STEM Kits 4 Kids, carefully prepared and organized by Joule Junction’s team, included three engaging activities made for different ages. Older students assembled hands-on experiments with battery-powered bristle bots and battery-powered fans, while younger students explored creativity with painting 3D moon phase diagrams. Each kit was packaged with all materials necessary, along with step-by-step instructions, making it easy for students to listen to instruction while making the kits.
In total, 17 students—4 sixth graders, 8 fifth graders, and 6 fourth graders—participated in the event, which was held in collaboration with SAI Math, a local organization committed to improving educational opportunities for Hayward youth.
