SAN RAMON, CA — San Ramon FC, a competitive men’s soccer team, is just one win away from qualifying for the 2026 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup, the country’s oldest ongoing national competition.

For the first time ever, San Ramon FC is one of 32 amateur teams still in the running, selected from a record field of 145 hopefuls. The defining match will take place at 7 p.m. Sunday at Tiffany Roberts Field against the Olympic Club of San Francisco. If they win, they could play against professional squads like the Oakland Roots and the San Jose Earthquakes.

The 2026 Open Cup winner will earn a berth at the 2027 Concacaf Champions Cup and have its name engraved on the Dewar Challenge Trophy. The amateur team that advances the furthest will be eligible for a $50,000 cash bonus, a portion of which the team has voted to donate to the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.
