Swarm Of Earthquakes Hits San Ramon: Did You Feel It?

Two quakes struck San Ramon late Monday, a little over a week after more than a dozen quakes hit the area.

SAN RAMON, CA — A 3.3-magnitude earthquake struck San Ramon Monday night at 10:47 p.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake was centered in the heart of San Ramon, just south of Bishop Ranch, and had a depth of 9.3 kilometers, according to USGS.

Nearby residents reported feeling weak or light shaking, according to USGS’s “Did You Feel It?” survey.

A smaller 2.6-magnitude quake was reported at 12:08 a.m. Tuesday, centered a bit east on Athens Drive just east of Alcosta Boulevard. Not many respondents reported feeling that quake.

A 2.5-magnitude quake centered in the ocean 18 kilometers southwest of Point Reyes was also reported Monday at 2 p.m., which no one reported feeling.

There were no reports of injuries or damages for either.

The two San Ramon quakes occurred a little over a week after more than a dozen earthquakes struck San Ramon. The first occurred just before 9:40 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9 and had a magnitude of 3.8. This was followed by more than a dozen quakes ranging from 3.7 to 1.4. People throughout the East Bay reported feeling the larger quakes.
