Volunteer Works Tirelessly 'For The Love Of Bird Conservation'

SANTA CRUZ, CA — Without community leaders, Santa Cruz wouldn’t hum along nearly as smoothly as it does. We’d miss their contributions in big and small ways.

Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to recognize these often unsung community leaders and celebrate their contributions.

How do you know this community leader?

I am the president of the Santa Cruz Bird Club.

What does this community leader do?

Edits and writes five publications through our calendar year which includes: local bird observations, rare bird discoveries, photos of local birds, interviews with researchers, interviews with birders locally who have experienced a special interaction with a bird, publication of local bird observations of rare migrants, up coming events, poetry, photographs of local birds and all local bird related topics. Articles have all been beautifully written, entertaining and educational. The quality of her work is exceptional. Past publications can be viewed on our web site.

Why do you believe the community leader should be recognized or honored?

Dedicated to writing a high quality magazine for no pay or benefits which preserves the history of birds in our county and entertains readers with a high quality publication.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the community hero?

Dedicated to providing an artistic, sophisticated, educational and entertaining bi-monthly magazine for the love of bird conservation and enjoyment for birders and wildlife appreciators.
