• Pedestrian dies after Santa Cruz hit-and-run; driver arrested, police say (ksbw.com) — A 30-year-old pedestrian has died after being struck in a Friday night hit-and-run on Mission Street in Santa Cruz, and police have arrested the 39-year-old driver on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and drug possession. The victim died Sunday at the hospital, and investigators are asking anyone who saw the collision near 1700 Mission Street to contact the Santa Cruz Police Department.

• Santa Cruz couple allegedly steals $18,000 in jewelry from downtown store (ksbw.com) — Santa Cruz police are investigating a couple accused of using a distraction scheme to steal about $18,000 in gold necklaces from the Golden Bliss jewelry store downtown, a theft caught on camera. The same owner, who also runs Super Silver, recently suffered a large theft at a Sacramento location, heightening concern for local jewelers.
