Santa Cruz Tree Recycling: 3 Free Ways To Get Rid Of Yours

Here's when to put your trees out on the curb and two other ways to recycle your tree, according to the city of Santa Cruz.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — Christmas tree recycling efforts are underway in Santa Cruz.

Residents have three free options to consider, all of which require trees to be stripped of ornaments, stands and tinsel. Flocked trees cannot be recycled.

Residents may set their tree out on their curb on their regularly scheduled trash pickup day through Jan. 14. Trees should be cut to 6 feet or less and should not be propped up against carts.

Santa Cruzans may also trim their trees and place them into their yard waste cart. The tree must be able to fit into the cart with the lid closed.

Trees may also be dropped off at the Resource Recovery Facility, 605 Dimeo Lane. The facility is located three miles north of Santa Cruz and trees may be taken to the yard waste area.
