Local Firefighters 'Brave Enough' to Wear Pink
Santa Monica's Local 1109 will don pink t-shirts during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Want a shirt of your own? They're for sale, too.

Santa Monica Firefighters will battle blazes and breast cancer in October.
Local 1109 is joining with Susan G. Komen Passionately Pink for the Cure by sporting and selling pink t-shirts with proceeds benefiting cancer research. October is designated "Breast Cancer Awareness Month."
The firefighters typically wear navy blue tees when they're not in turnouts. This will be the second year they have joined in the fundraising efforts.

The public may purchase the pink tees—which read, "Brave Enough to Wear Pink" on the back—for $10 by contacting Capt. Jeff Connor at (310) 458-8288.
The union also asked the public to donate to the cause online at passionatelypink.org. Click “give to a team,” type in “Judah Mitchell” (Team Captain), and choose “donate now."
