Lighthouse beat Ojai Valley volleyball Thursday. Shayla Papik was setting good balls for her hitters to smash.

By Michael Ashcraft --
Given current circumstances, we will no longer call her Shayla but SMASH-la because she was smashing the ball and serving up sets to be smashed Thursday in Lighthouse's win against Ojai Valley School.
"I feel overlooked sometimes," she says. "I wasn't always a setter. Allie (Scribner) needed me to be another setting. I just starting fiddling and started setting. Now I set for my club team. I like the idea that I get Jill (Jenkins) an amazing hit or Eden (Garcia) an amazing hit. Letting them hit is awesome.

"Of course, I love to have the spotlight on my," she adds. "But it's always fun to have that duo connection, like, oh my gosh, I gave you the set, you got the hit."
Lighthouse Christian Academy won 25-8, 25-11, 25-4.

Shayla was throwing perfect patties on the griddle for the girls to smash.
This is the same team on the home game that Shayla shut down with 25 straight serves.
Yeah, Smash-la.
