2020 Census: County Of Sonoma, United Way Host Kick-Off Event

"An accurate count is the first step in making sure our community has good jobs, roads, schools & adequate resources now and in the future."

SANTA ROSA, CA — The County of Sonoma and non-profit organization United Way of the Wine Country held a kick-off event Friday morning that stressed the importance of having a full and accurate count in the April 1, 2020 census.

The population totals of the census that is taken every 10 years determine congressional representation and funding allocations for the next 10 years. Approximately $675 billion in federal funding is distributed to states and communities based on the census data.

The county and United Way of the Wine Country will work with the Sonoma Complete Count Committee to focus on the importance of reaching hard-to-count residents living in the county.
