3 Dogs Killed On Highway 12 On-Ramp In Santa Rosa
All three dogs, a Rottweiler, Doberman pinscher and an unknown breed, were taken to their owner.
SONOMA COUNTY, CA — Three dogs died when they presumably were struck by at least one vehicle on a highway on-ramp in Santa Rosa early Tuesday morning. Santa Rosa police were informed about the dogs and notified the California Highway Patrol around 5 a.m., CHP Officer Juan Leon said.
CHP officers then responded and found the dogs on the Hoen Avenue on-ramp to westbound state Highway 12, Leon said.
Leon said two dogs were dead when officers arrived and a third was taken by Sonoma County Animal Services to an animal hospital around 5:40 a.m.

Animal Services spokesman Rohish Lal confirmed the CHP informed Animal Services two dogs died at the scene and one was alive, but before Animal Services could respond, the call to Animal Services was canceled, suggesting the third dog had died.
Caltrans spokeswoman Rocquel Johnson said a Caltrans maintenance crew responded and learned the name of the dog's owner and address from tags on the dogs' collars.
