Community Donation of 10K Saves Independence Day Fireworks
A generous donation by Darius and Sarah Anderson will make up for the fund's shortfall.

In order to continue to have a big, brass fireworks show, the group needed to raise $10,000 - stat.
Community members rallied to help - starting campaigns to chip in spare cash to assure that the fireworks display was up to standard this summer.

But thanks to Darius and Sarah Anderson's generous $10,000 donation - the exact amount missing from the show's fund - the fireworks show is out of peril.
The donation came "just in time to ensure a 2011 fireworks show of the caliber the community has come to expect," said Trevor Smith, an Engineer Paramedic Sonoma Valley Fire & Rescue Authority.

The association began soliciting donations last June, but the funding halted at $30,000, $10,000 short for this summer’s goal.
The Fire Authority typically begins soliciting for donations for next year's show several months before July 4 - so keep an eye out for 2012 mailers. Any extra cash that they receive will be added to next year's fund.
Want to support the fireworks display? Donate online or send a check to the Sonoma Valley Volunteer Firefighters Association at 630 Second Street West, Sonoma, CA 95476. All excess donations will be added to next year's fireworks fund.
