Philanthropic Noshing: Bake-sale for Japan hits Sonoma
Epicurean Connection is the latest local to join in fund-raising efforts for Japanese relief.
In times of crisis people often take comfort in the familiar, and nothing is more comforting than freshly made baked goods.
That's why the Epicurean Connection, the latest Sonoma business to help out in post-quake Japan, has joined forces with "Bakesale for Japan," a grouping of restaurants and food vendors, who will be selling homemade treats and donating the profits to Japan.
Some of the nations most prominent foodie locals have joined the movement: see a full list of participating vendors here.

For the next few days, or until they sell out, the Epicurean Connection will be cooking up a special cinnamon apple cake, for the "Bakesale for Japan."
But hurry, "I've already sold two of them, so I've only got a couple left," says owner Sheana Davis.

Davis also pitched in all class fees and chef fees from a recent sake and cheese tasting class, titled "East Meets West."
The apple cakes sell for $24 for a whole cake, or $3 per slice.
