Sassarini Fifth Graders Get Schooled by NFL's Tony Moll
The Baltimore Ravens lineman and Sassarini alum stopped by to read to his old classroom.

fifth-graders got an unexpected lesson in celebrity Thursday when Baltimore Ravens Lineman Tony Moll made an in-class appearance during a school-wide reading event.
As part of a 6-week reading initiative "Sassariniopoly" students at Sassarini commit to a boatload of reading - between 9 and 12 hours, depending on grade level. On Thursday, special mystery readers - including firefighters, SVUSD Superintendent Louann Carlomagno and of course Moll, stopped by Sassarini classrooms, to read aloud to students.
Moll, who played for the Green Bay Packers before the Ravens, grew up in Sonoma and remains civically active in his hometown. Recently, Moll partnered with the NFL to offer a $10,000 grant to the football program - where Moll got his start. During Sassariniopoly, Moll read to the entire fifth grade in the classroom of his own fifth grade teacher - Sassarini's Blair Thompson.

The kids, however, were more interested in stories from the front-lines of the NFL.
"Do you know Brett Favre?" asked a student. "We've spent a lot of time together," said Moll. Sequels eruptted throughout the room.
Later, Moll made time to throw around a football and sign some autographs onto blank sheets of paper and, at several students insistence, a couple of limbs.
"I'm never washing my arm again," gushed a student, grabbing onto an inked forearm.
