12-Inch Pothole Found On SFO Runway
Authorities temporarily shut down the runway while emergency repairs were made Thursday.

SAN FRANCISCO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, CA — All runways have reopened at San Francisco International Airport after a 12-inch pothole on one runway forced its closure Thursday morning, airport officials said.
The pothole, described as a pavement depression, was discovered during an inspection early Thursday morning on Runway 28L, according to SFO spokesman Doug Yakel.
The runway was immediately closed so crews could patch up the area. That closure resulted in 218 flights being delayed, airport officials said.

Although the runway has reopened, residual delays are still possible into the evening hours and travelers are being asked to check with their airline for specific flight information.
