SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — A 17-year-old boy on probation for previous weapons charges was arrested Monday in Colma as the suspect in a violent robbery case, according to the sheriff's office.

In a news release Wednesday, officials said the juvenile was wearing an ankle monitor when he punched a 12-year-old victim and stole their cell phone near the 300 block of F Street on New Year's Day.

Deputies said witnesses helped identify the juvenile suspect, whom investigators located after he received medical treatment. The boy was booked into Hillcrest Juvenile Hall on suspicion of strong-armed robbery.
