Venice Community Meeting Tuesday Over Police Brutality Case

A community meeting is being held Tuesday night with police to discuss the arrest of 20-year-old Ronald Weekly, whose violent apprehension was recorded on video.

A community meeting will be held Tuesday night with police to discuss the arrest of a 20-year-old Venice man who has claimed police brutality.

The meeting will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Westminster Senior Center at 1234 Pacific Ave. in Venice. Speakers at the meeting will include Capt. Brian Johnson of the Los Angeles Police Department's Pacific Division; Stan Muhammad of the Venice HELPER Foundation and Pastor Horace Allen of First Baptist Church in Venice.

Johnson gave a 45-minute presentation Aug. 21 at the Venice Neighborhood Council board meeting to update the public on the case of Ronald Weekly, 20, a Venice man whose violent arrest Aug. 18 was recorded on video.
