Man Accused Of Attempted Kidnapping At Bay Area Public Library: Police

He faces charges including two counts of lewd acts on a child, police said.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — Charges have been filed against a man arrested on suspicion of lewd acts upon a child and attempted kidnapping, the Walnut Creek Police Department said late Thursday.

Marc Simon, a 27-year-old man from Walnut Creek, was arrested April 16 in connection with the attempted kidnapping of a child April 11 at the downtown library on North Broadway. Simon was arrested once he was identified as the suspect, police said.

The case was presented to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office, which filed charges against Simon including two counts of lewd acts upon a child, attempted kidnapping for child molesting, and possession of over 600 images of child pornography.

Simon remained in custody Thursday at the county jail with his bail set at $2 million.

Although police do not suspect there are other victims, they released his photo and asked the public to call the Walnut Creek Police Department if they know of any victims or have information about the case.
