Vehicle Crashes Into Walnut Creek Panda Express

Contra Costa County firefighters were called to Panda Express at 2280 Oak Grove Road just before 5 p.m. when a car plowed into the building.

WALNUT CREEK - A vehicle crashed into a chain restaurant in Walnut Creek Tuesday afternoon, according to fire dispatchers.

The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District was called to a Panda Express at 2280 Oak Grove Road at 4:53 p.m. on report of a vehicle that had crashed into a building.

The Contra Costa County Times reports the driver, an elderly man, stepped on the gas pedal rather than the brake when trying to park his car outside the restaurant.

Fire Capt. Andy Bozzo told the paper the car crashed into the side of the restaurant, causing part of the exterior of the building to partially collapse.
