Heat Advisory Begins Friday For Coastal Bay Area
Many coastal and Bay-facing areas will be under a heat advisory as a heatwave passes across California.
BAY AREA, CA — The National Weather Service has placed several coastal and bay-facing regions from Sonoma to Monterey counties under a heat advisory.
As a heatwave passes across California, NWS forecast "little relief along the coast" due to light breezes and a shallow marine layer. The heat advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. Friday to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
"For all intents and purposes it will be hot everywhere with little relief until you reach the immediate coast," NWS wrote.

In inland parts of the Bay Area, NWS upgraded a previously issued excessive heat watch to an excessive heat warning and said it would be in effect three days longer than officials previously forecast.
Temps are expected to reach 95 to 108 degrees in inland areas, NWS wrote earlier this week. The hottest temperatures will likely hit over the weekend, with record highs likely.

"Heat impacts will be considerable this weekend," NWS forecast Friday. "Take precautions seriously for sensitive populations."
Officials warn that residents should be wary of heat exhaustion or heat stroke after spending prolonged time outdoors. People are especially vulnerable if they must spend a lot of time outside, don't have air conditioning, are elderly, are a young child or have chronic ailments, NWS wrote.
Call 911 and immediately move to the shade if you are experiencing a heat-related illness.
Drink lots of water, stay out of the sun and stay in air conditioning, NWS said. Keep an eye on family and neighbors.
