Water Shutoff Scam Active In Watsonville
Police have received dozens of reports from residents saying they're getting calls to make a payment or have their water shut off.

WATSONVILLE, CA — If you are getting concerning calls about your water service, don't be alarmed.
Watsonville police say there is a scam going on where residents are being told their water services are going to be shut off.
The department said dozens of calls have been coming in reporting the calls.

The caller tells the resident they have to make a payment to avoid the shutoff.
Watsonville police are encouraging residents not to worry, saying the calls aren't real. Residents would get an official notice in the mail if services were being shut off. A notice would not come through a phone call, the department said.
