
WATSONVILLE, CA — Watsonville celebrated its new police chief Monday at a badge-pinning ceremony.
Jorge Zamora, a Watsonville native, replaced David Honda, who retired this summer. Zamora previously served as acting assistant chief of police.
He has experience in police patrol, gang and narcotic enforcement, SWAT, hostage negotiation and more. He holds a degree in criminal justice management from Union Institute & University.

Zamora was raised in Watsonville's schools and worked with his parents in the fields, according to his bio.
