'Suspicious Meatballs' Laced With Rat Poison Appear In CO Yards
Meat, laced with rat poison, appeared in yards in southeast Fort Collins, the Larimer Co. Humane Society said.

FORT COLLINS, CO – Food tainted with rat poison has shown up in neighborhood yards of Fort Collins home-owners, the Larimer County Humane Society said.
Police were investigating a case of "suspicious meatballs" which appeared in the yard of a home in Fossil Lake Ranch, on June 9, police told the Coloradoan Sunday.
Food sample tests confirmed the strange food contained rat poison, Kaylene Weingardt, LCHS spokeswoman said in an interview. "The good news is that no animals have been harmed yet," Weingardt said.

Petmd.com offered the following symptoms of rat poisoning in pets:
- Loss of appetite
- Impaired movement
- Paralysis of the animal's hind limbs
- Slight muscle tremors
- Seizures
- Depression of the central nervous system
