BOULDER, CO — Spring is in the air. That means the weather is changing, and everyone is ready to have fun after hibernating all winter. Looking for something to do? We have the list for you.
To make this a one-stop shop, here are 14 can't-miss activities in The Greater Boulder Area, organized right here in one place. Make the most of all that is offered this spring, and mark your calendar!
Boulder Spring Bucket List
- Venture outside your culinary comfort zone at the farmers market on Saturday (April 2 - Nov. 19) and Wednesday (May 4 – Oct. 5). Available at certain markets: artisan shows, kids' activities, live music and a beer garden.
- Online ordering and pickup is also available through the Boulder County Farmers Markets. Strict ordering and pickup windows weekly. Learn more.
- Stop and smell the tulips at the Tulip Fairy and Elf Festival, featuring live performances, tons of kids' activities and the parade of the Tulip Fairy with her fairies and elves to wake the 15,000 beautiful tulips on Pearl Street Mall. Sunday, 1 - 5 p.m.
- Discover local treasures at Firefly Handmade Spring Market with over 80 artisans, art activities, live music and more on April 30 - May 1. Pets are welcome, and there is a Vintage VW Van Photo Booth.
- Float down to the Boulder Creek Festival from May 28-30 to hear a long lineup of performances; visit the 21+ Creekside Beer Fest for unlimited tasting from local breweries; or shop at the Makers Market for goods by local artists and makers.
- Lace up your running shoes! The BOLDERBoulder 10K takes place on May 30 (Memorial Day) and honors those who have given their life in military service. It's more than a run — it's for everyone. Walk, race or parade, and then take part in the community celebration. Register here.
- The Plein Art Event is anything but plain. From June 3-11, artists create work in many various mediums while outdoors in public, centering their art on the subject of the Boulder County nature. On June 11, the art will be exhibited and sold, so don't miss the chance to own artwork you spotted being created in the wild.
- Celebrate at the Boulder Jewish Festival, which features performances, a food festival, a marketplace and family-friendly activities for all on June 12.
- Vibe to various genres of music at Bands on the Bricks on Wednesdays, June 15 - Aug. 3. The free concerts by local musicians are on the bricks of the Pearl Street Mall.
- Feel the music at the Summer of Love Concert Series on Fridays, July 8 - Aug. 26. Lineup here.
- Marvel at the magnificent masterpieces in the Pearl Street Arts Fest from July 16 - 17.
- Enjoy the best tacos from Boulder County, local brews, margaritas, lucha libre wrestling, events for kids and live music, all slated for Taco Fest on Aug. 6. Tickets required. They are likely to sell out, so scoop them soon.
- Be assured — the Boulder Creek Hometown Festival has it all: live music, a beer garden and arts and crafts exhibitors. But it also has something that isn't found anywhere else — The Great Zucchini Race. Another can't-miss-event, the Classic Car & Motorcycle Show, raises funds and support for Special Olympics Colorado. The festival takes place Aug. 19-21, with free admission.
- Take a quick hike with a huge reward at Boulder Falls, a breathtaking waterfall in the tight canyon. Make sure to check for closures or maintenance.
- Or, grab your best pal and a leash and head for Mount Sanitas, where you can choose your own adventure among several levels of difficulty for your hike.
- Or, explore the flatirons on a moderate hike that features stunning mountain views on a series of intermingled trails that make the experience customizable.
- Experience nature without the sweating by stargazing in a valley close to Boulder at Button Rock Preserve.
