While electricity was mostly restored by evening, residents and fire officials remain worried about losing heat, water and 911 access, especially where landlines fail and cell service is spotty during future wind and wildfire events.

Boulder County residents lay wreaths to thank veterans for their service (dailycamera.com) — Boulder residents joined city officials Saturday to lay wreaths on veterans’ graves at Columbia Cemetery, reviving a ceremony that hadn’t been held in about a decade. With hundreds of wreaths placed in Boulder and at Mountain View Memorial Park, speakers urged neighbors to pause during the holidays to honor local service members’ sacrifices and support expanding the effort next year.

Climber Rescued After Overnight Ordeal in Eldorado Canyon (longmontleader.com) — Boulder County rescuers and Boulder Police worked together to locate a stranded climber on Eldorado Canyon’s Naked Edge route after his headlamp and phone batteries died during a late outing. The six-hour overnight operation used a police drone and Rocky Mountain Rescue to bring him down safely, and officials are urging locals to better plan and share details of backcountry trips.
