Best Christmas Tree Farms In Boulder County: Get Your Green!
Here's your guide to the best local stops; plus, how to cut your own in a national forest for as little as $5.

BOULDER, CO -- The stores have had their decorations up for what seems like months. The snowstorms are becoming more frequent, and the ski reports more thrilling. Holiday parade season is in full swing – are you ready to get your Christmas tree set up? We've got a list of some of the best spots in the county, as well as one special idea that will take you over the river and through the woods to cut your own tree in a national forest.

Generations of the Condon family have farmed in Colorado since the 1850s. Bob and Amy Condon run Cottonwood Farms, while their son Jason owns Isabelle Farms nearby. They have a wide range of pre-cut tree varieties and sizes available. Located at 10600 Isabelle Rd. in Lafayette, Cottonwood Farms is open Sunday-Thursday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday-Saturday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Dec. 24.

With trees ranging from 2 feet to 20 feet tall, family owned and operated Blue Ribbon Farms also offers garland, wreaths, boughs, and reindeer or snowman decorations. Blue Ribbon Farm is located at 10147 Hover St. in Longmont, and is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Famous for their sweet corn and pumpkin patch, after the growing season is over, the Munson's farm stand follows the seasons and turns into a Christmas tree farm. The Munsons offer Noble, Fraser, Balsam, and other Colorado native trees. Munson's is located at the corner of 75th and Valmont in Boulder, and will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day through Christmas.
Creekside offers fresh cut, cut-your-own, and living Christmas trees, and offers hot chocolate and candy canes to customers while they wait as long as supplies don't run out. Creekside has two locations, one in Boulder just off 63rd and Valmont, and the other in Niwot, at 95th and Niwot Rd. Both locations are open from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday, Saturday from 10-7 and Sunday from 12-7.
Bonus round: National Forests -
Several Front Range national forest locations allow people to cut their own Christmas tree – and actively help with forest management – in specific areas for just $5-$20 depending on the location. A map of participating Forest Service offices is available on their website. Some of the closest to Boulder County are located in Fraser or at Red Feather Lakes near Fort Collins.
