Boosted Coloradans 47 Times Less Likely To Be Hospitalized: Data

Here's the latest news about the spread of COVID-19 in Colorado.

COLORADO — Coloradans who've received their booster are 47 times less likely to be hospitalized with COVID-19 than unvaccinated people, state public health data shows.

As of Thursday, 1,212 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 in Colorado, and 35 percent of hospitals in our state anticipate ICU bed shortages over the next week, according to data posted by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

Between Wednesday and Thursday afternoon, 1,576 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in our state. Five cases of the omicron variant have been detected in Colorado.

More than 4 million Coloradans have received at least one vaccine dose, the latest data shows. Around 81 percent of Coloradans 12 and older and 25 percent of 5-11 year olds have received their first dose, public health officials said.

"It’s a dangerous time to be unvaccinated so please check out fact-based and scientific information today if you’re still on the fence and get vaccinated and boosted," Gov. Jared Polis said during a news conference Thursday.

"Our administration is committed to partnering with local governments to stand up drive-thru sites like the Aurora Municipal Center and large-scale vaccination sites which have the capacity to serve thousands of Coloradans. The following community sites are offering vaccinations:

Aurora Municipal Center - drive through - 250 doses per day Monday-Thursday; 1,000 doses per day Friday-Sunday:

  • 15151 E Alameda Pkwy, Aurora
  • Days of operation: 7 days a week
  • Hours of operation: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday; 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Sunday
  • Doses: 250 doses per day (Monday-Thursday), 1,000 doses per day (Friday -Sunday)

Ball Arena: Mobile vaccination site, walk-ups available — 500 doses per clinic:

  • 1000 Chopper Cir, Denver
  • Thursday, Dec. 23: Noon - 8:30 p.m. (Nuggets game at 7 p.m.)
  • Dec. 30: Noon - 8:30 p.m. (Nuggets game)
  • Dec. 31: 11 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. (Mammoth game)

Arapahoe Community College (Lot B) - 250 doses per day:

  • 5900 S Santa Fe Drive, Littleton
  • Days of operation: 7 days a week
  • Hours of operation: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday-Saturday; 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Sunday.

Chapel Hills Mall - 1000 doses per day:

  • Days of operation: 7 days a week
  • Hours of operation: 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Citadel Mall (parking lot next to JCPenney) - 250 doses per day:

Douglas County Fairgrounds - 250 doses per day Monday-Thursday, and 1,000 doses per day Friday-Sunday:

La Plata County Fairgrounds - 250 doses per day

Pueblo Mall - 250 doses per day Tuesday-Thursday; 1,000 doses per day Friday, Saturday, Sunday:
