Boulder Chamber: First Boulder County Hard Cider Press In 100 Years?

BOCO Cider, Boulder's only cidery, is pressing local apples tomorrow. It may be Boulder County's first significant press for hard cider in 100 Years.

Once upon a time, Boulder County had a thriving apple industry with about two thirds devoted to the production of hard cider.  Prohibition (1920 to 1933) wiped out the hard cider industry and major apple production moved to Washington and other states.  NPR's "Science Friday" did a great segment from Chautauqua on local apples: https://www.sciencefriday.com/segments/colorado-apple-mystery/

BOCO Cider is a small urban cidery located in North Boulder.  Its hard cider is “Made the Boulder Way,” which means no added sulfites, unfiltered, nothing artificial, natural bubbles, unpasteurized and gluten-free!  Kind of like it would have been made on a farm a century ago.
