Boulder Cyclist Found Dead ID'ed - Coroner

Authorities do not suspect foul play in the death of a family man and outdoor enthusiast.

BOULDER, CO - The Boulder County Coroner has identified the cyclist who was found dead near the intersection of 28th and Kalmia on October 2 as James Rockler, aged 66, according to the Daily Camera. Rockler was found shortly after 12 a.m. that night by Boulder police after they responded to a call about an unresponsive man with a bicycle on a path in the area. When they arrived, he was unconscious and his lips were blue. Attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.

According to a press release from the Boulder Police Department, there is no indication of foul play. The coroner is currently investigating the cause and manner of death.

According to an obituary published in the Camera, Rockler was originally from Washington DC, but had lived in Boulder since he graduated from CU in 1976. He was very involved in the lives of his daughters, "loved the mountains and skied year-round, finding snow wherever he could," wrote his family. They will celebrating his life at the Sunrise Amphitheater on Friday at 11:00am.
