Boulder International Film Festival 2019: What To Know

In-person visits from David Crosby and Jakob Dylan headline this year's edition.

BOULDER, CO -- The Boulder International Film Festival is one of the city's most anticipated events every year. For four days, filmmakers, local chefs, actors and actresses, and musicians come together in downtown Boulder to celebrate the art of cinema. BIFF regularly attracts more than 25,000 film enthusiasts, media and industry each year, according to attendance statistics. Celebrities including Alec Baldwin, James Franco, Shirley MacLaine, Alan Arkin, Martin Sheen, Oliver Stone, William H. Macy, Peter Fonda and Chevy Chase have all attended BIFF over the years.

The full program will be released on Feb. 8. You can buy your festival passes here — but don't delay, as events frequently sell out.

This year, the festival runs from Feb. 26–March 1, and opens with an in-person evening with David Crosby, along with a screening of the new documentary, "David Crosby: Remember My Name," chronicling Crosby's journey to redefine himself as a 76-year-old artist. The film promises to be inspirational, humorous, and filled with music.

The festival will close with a special screening of "Echo in the Canyon," directed by Andrew Slater and starring Jakob Dylan. The film looks at how The Byrds, The Beach Boys, Buffalo Springfield, and The Mamas & the Papas set the stage for the LA’s Laurel Canyon music scene, and how their work crossed the Atlantic to London and touched even the Beatles. The night will include gypsy folk music as well as an award ceremony honoring the 2019 BIFF winners.
